Check out what our course participant Lindsey had to say about her first week of The Cambridge Train the Trainer Online with Lexis TESOL Training Centres.
It is the start of week 2 and I am only just finishing week 1. This is my own fault as I have had a lazy weekend and didn’t dedicate enough time to keeping up with everyone’s comments on the course. I am determined that I will be spending a couple of hours each evening to get up to scratch for the start of week 3.
This is the first time I have ever taken part in an online course. I was extremely nervous about the whole process as I was concerned about a few things:
- Would I keep up! Well this is something I am working on
- Would I feel silly as I couldn’t contribute anything worth while
- Having no training background, would I make a good trainer
These were some of my first concerns but a week into the course I feel more relaxed and ready to learn.
In the first week of the course we have spent time getting to know each other, thinking about ‘getting to know you’ activities and thinking about the differences between a trainer and a teacher.
It has been fascinating meeting everyone on the course. I think there are about 30 people on the course from all over the world. There are people from Australia, Saudi Arabia, Japan, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Bangladesh, Thailand and more! It is definitely an international course and it allows you to network with so many people you would never normally have the opportunity to meet.
It has been interesting to see what people have said about the first week. One comment in particular sums the first week up for me:
To be honest, the thing I have found the most useful has not been in the course content, but in the reactions and comments of the participants. I have said it to a few people individually, this course doesn’t feel like work for me – it’s great to be able to talk about training with people from all over.
With the course content, the reflection part has been the most poignant in light of my recent work. I’m looking forward to building it in in a much more structured way at all the different levels of my teaching/training
Having come into this course not knowing what to expect I am feeling extremely excited by what the next 7 weeks are going to bring.
I will keep you posted on the next 7 weeks so remember to log in and see what we have been up to on the ‘Train the Trainer course’.
